In October 2015, Bursa Malaysia launched a new Sustainability Framework that replaced its CSR Framework and amended its ‘Listing Requirements’.
Bursa Malaysia’s amendments to the Main Market Listing Requirements and ACE Market Listing Requirements (“ACE LR”) related to sustainability statements in annual reports to take place from 31 December 2016 to 31 December 2018. The main Listing Requirements were amended to require the disclosure of a “Sustainability Statement” covering material sustainability matters.
A listed issuer must produce a narrative statement of its material economic, environmental and social risks and opportunities. Companies filing a sustainability report based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Guidelines are automatically compliant. The amendments are accompanied by a Sustainability Reporting Guide and Toolkits issued by Bursa Malaysia, guidance in which the GRI is strongly referenced. Principles such as materiality are based on guidance from the GRI Guidelines.
Ace CSR helps many companies produce sustainability statements and sustainability reports that are fully compliant with Bursa Malaysia’s listing requirements.
